3 Parks To Visit In Calgary

There is plenty to do in Calgary, Alberta in the summer because there is always a park to go to and get that fresh air in your lungs. All you need is your shorts and shades and either a frisbee, your companion or pup, a blanket or a book and you will be set to spend a few hours in the beautiful sunshine of Calgary.

You can search small local parks by looking into neighborhoods by searching Calgary Homes for Sale or you can visit the big name national parks of Canada in Calgary that offer education and an amazing view of nature.

You can visit Prince’s Island Park, a park that holds Folk Fest, Canada Day celebrations and other festivals. The park has multiple water features, local art and many pathways to walk, run, bike, rollerblade, or however you want to spend the day. The park has the Chevron Learning Pathway which winds around a constructed wetland that is designed to treat stormwater before it enters the river. The pathway contains signage that teaches how a wetland works and gives information on wildlife, habitat and water quality to help connect visitors with nature in an interactive way. The park also has picnic areas, a playground, flower gardens, cross-country skiing, a full service restaurant and an on-leash park.

Pierce Estate Park is another park that you and your family can visit in Calgary. This park also has acres of wetland and is located just off of the Bow River. There are ponds and streams to walk by as well as a playground, picnic sites, pathways and trails. It is home to the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery and Bow Habitat Visitor Center. The park is near the city and there is signage around the park that informs visitors about how the wetland came to be and describes the wildlife in the park.

Another beauty of Calgary is Griffith Woods. This is a great place to escape the city where you can just hear the wind blow through the trees and the water babble through the river. There are paved pathways, playgrounds and fields for families to enjoy and breath in nature. The trails in Griffith Woods are flat and easy to walk and there are animals of all kinds around so you must be careful but they could leave you in awe.

Calgary is an amazing place for all things outdoors in the spring and summer and can clear the mind and cleanse the body and soul. Exploring the natural wonders of this city and wildlife it offers is a great adventure for the whole family and will show you the heart of Canada.
