Arguably the best restaurant on the African continent, Wolfgat is owned and operated by Kobus van der Merwe, a chef often compared to Rene Redzepi, the creator of Noma. Found on the West Coast of South Africa, Wolfgat is also one of the most unassuming restaurants on this list.

 

The small restaurant has very few tables and a months-long waiting list. Serving up the freshest seafood and seasonal vegetables, Wolfgat is the epitome of keeping the atmosphere simple and letting the food do all the talking.
